I just returned from a girls trip to Charleston, South Carolina. It’s the first time I’ve been away from my kids without Jeff in a long time and it was much needed!
I’ve been to Charleston before, but not on a girls trip like this so it was kind of new territory for me. There are so many places to eat, shop and grab a coffee or a drink. I know there are so many more spots than the ones I’m mentioning, but this is exactly what we did this trip. I hope it helps for anyone planning an upcoming trip!
- Andrew Pinckney Inn: This is where we stayed. It was such a quant little hotel with gorgeous rooms, free breakfast and free Happy Hour from 4-5:30. And this wasn’t a Hampton Inn breakfast, this was a gourmet meal with scones and egg sandwiches. The location of this hotel was perfect and just down the street from two coffee shops we frequented and The City Market. Meticulously restored and located in the heart of beautiful downtown Charleston.
- Clerks and Harken Cafe: We loved Harken for coffee and a quick scone. It’s a super cozy establishment with a country-chic vibe… try the Avocado toast or variety of biscuits or scones.
- Shopping on King St.: there is a massive amount of shopping in Charleston. Anything on King Street is hopping, you’ll find everything from Louis Vuitton to a southern boutique. There are quite a few nice hotels in this area as well along with The Charleston Place.
- The City Market: is a historic market complex in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Established in the 1790s, the market stretches for four city blocks. We stopped by Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, which was really fabulous. Try the cinnamon sugar biscuit, WOW!
- Dewberry: If you’re in the market for a massage, we thoroughly enjoyed The Dewberry, complete with a champagne toast! Quiet luxury defines the space while cypress covered walls provide enveloping warmth. The downstairs bar is extremely retro with a nod to old Charleston. It’s not to be missed.
- 167 Restaurants: We ate at all 3 concepts coming from the 167 team and they were spectacular! We were really inundated with dining suggestions from friends and couldn’t tackle them all. 167 Raw is worth the wait, as they do not take reservations. The food has some New England influence with charming seafood mini-market and restaurant for fish and chips, lobster rolls, seafood tacos and more! 167 Sushi Bar has some of the best sushi I’ve tried. Honestly, I’m still dreaming about it. This quaint little dining experience offers daily nigiri, sashimi, and futomaki rolls.
- Isle of Palms Beach: If you’re in the market for a quick trip to the beach, Isle of Palms is a 25 minute Uber ride. Ask to go to Coconut Joe’s for the public beach access. You can even order your chairs and umbrella to be set up the morning of for a fairly reasonable price. Now the beach is packed, as is all public beaches, but we found this little area to be extremely nice for the three of us to enjoy an afternoon in the sand.
- Some honorable mentions: Husk Restaurant, The Grocery, Hotel Bennett, Prohibition, Doar Bar, Peach Pie, and many more that I’m probably completely forgetting!
