Summer’s end brings a wave of emotions. In our house we begin to scramble to finish the things we vowed to do during the summer and never got around to.
As school starts back, you’re probably ready to kick your kids out of the house but on the other hand, you’re thinking where did the time go?
Here are 20 fun and memorable End of Summer Bucket List ideas:
- Lake/Pool Day: Spend a whole day relaxing, swimming, and enjoying the sun at the local pool or lake.
- Backyard Camping: Go camping in a scenic location or in your own backyard.
- Road Trip: Plan a mini road trip to explore new places in our state. Think Hocking Hills, the Donut Trail, Cedar Point or a city you’ve never been to.
- Hiking: Find a trail and go on a hiking adventure, could be as simple as exploring a new Metro Park.
- Picnic: Have a picnic in a park or in your yard with friends or family. Here are some more picnic hacks!
- Visit a Festival or Fair: Visit a county fair to enjoy rides, games and food or even the Ohio State Fair!
- Outdoor Movie: Watch a movie under the stars at an outdoor cinema or set up your own.
- BBQ Party: Host a barbecue with friends and family. Lots of delicious recipes can be found on my blog here!
- Stargazing: Go to a dark place and spend the evening stargazing.
- Visit a Water Park: Have a fun day at a Zoombezi Bay, if you’re local to Columbus.
- Fruit Picking: Go to a local farm to pick berries, peaches, or other summer fruits… or even wait until apple picking, which will be here sooner than we think!

- Late Night Rave: Snag some glow-sticks at the Dollar Tree and play games like hide and seek, tag, or capture the flag.
- Good old fashioned Sprinkler Fun: One of my fondest childhood memories was setting up the sprinkler and running through it on a hot August afternoon. Slip and slides work great too, and most are on sale now!
