An Honest Review of Disney Boardwalk’s Cake Bake Shop: Is It Worth the Hype?

Hot topic: I went into this restaurant with a jaded view. Most of the reviews online said the price wasn’t worth the experience— keep reading for my review.

I was extremely excited to try out the newest addition, The Cake Bake Shop. Which has been creating quite a buzz—and with good reason with its whimsical, fairytale-inspired decor and over-the-top desserts, it’s been on every Disney foodie’s radar. But does it live up to the hype?

First Impressions: Atmosphere & Decor

Walking up to the Cake Bake Shop feels like stepping into a magical dream world. The exterior is absolutely stunning, with pastel hues, floral details, and delicate accents that scream storybook charm.

Inside, our jaws dropped. Chandeliers, gilded mirrors, twinkling lights, holiday animatronics and fresh flowers. It’s Instagram heaven.

The kids got the prettiest coloring pages and freshly sharpened colored pencils… first restaurant I’ve seen that.

The Menu: Sweet Treats and Savory Eats

The Cake Bake Shop specializes in desserts, but they also offer savory menu featuring sandwiches, salads, and quiches. We didn’t get any baked goods, but I heard the Lemon Blueberry Cake is to die for. Here’s what we tried:

Fun-Fetti Pancakes

All the kids ordered this and they weren’t disappointed. Hindsight, the portions are huge— we should have had the kids share.

Egg Sandwich: the egg sandwich was out of this world! A brioche bun and maple glazed bacon served with an arugula salad. I could have split this with my mom, but I’m glad I didn’t because 2 of my sons ate the second half and said they would order it again!

Service: Magical or Meh? And is it kid-Friendly?

The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful, dressed in chic uniforms that match the aesthetic perfectly.

We went at 8:15, which was not a busy time – I do recommend a reservation. Going first thing in the morning is also the best time to get great photos.

Our waitress was so patient with the kids and made great suggestions. She even told the story of a magical fairy who decorates at night and pixie dusted our table.

Value for Money: Is It Worth the Price?

Let’s talk pricing because the Cake Bake Shop is not cheap. The slices of cake are large (shareable), but they range from $12-$15 per slice. Savory dishes hover around $18-$25. Add in coffee or a sparkling beverage, and you’re looking at a pricey check.

If you’re looking for a one-time indulgence or a special treat, the quality of the cakes justifies the price. Kid prices were comparable to other Disney dining experiences.

Keep in mind, it might not be for everyone. If you’re on a tight budget or looking for hearty meals over delicate desserts, you may leave feeling underwhelmed.
